Why Creative Play?

In today's fast-paced society, it is becoming increasingly important for individuals to take time out of their busy schedules to engage in creative play. The benefits of creative play are numerous; it can boost cognitive development, stimulate emotional growth, and lead to stronger social connections. Several Miami-Dade County funding organizations recognize the value of creative play and have partnered with collaboARTive to support Creative Play programming.

CollaboARTive’s Creative Play programming can play an important role in cognitive, social, and emotional development. Through activities such as painting, coloring, drawing, and playing with clay, individuals can improve their problem-solving skills, increase their attention span, and enhance their creativity. Moreover, engaging in creative play can lead to a sense of emotional well-being, as it can reduce stress levels and promote relaxation. collaboARTive offers various types of Creative Play activities; these can be especially beneficial for individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or stressed, as they create a space for individuals to express themselves in a non-judgmental environment.

collaboARTive’s Executive Director, Jean Blackwell Font, offers Collage and Connect as a way to connect (or reconnect) people of all ages to their own creativity. Collage can be a simple way to engage in an artistic activity without the need for technical skills or expensive materials; a pair of scissors and a glue stick are all you need to get started. Don't underestimate the power of Creative Play - it may just be the key to unlocking your full creative potential.

To explore Creative Play for yourself, join collaboARTive for an upcoming Collage and Connect or other event hosted that features Creative Play programming. You can find all of our events listed on our website at collaboARTive.org/events. We look forward to sharing an hour of Creative Playtime with you soon!
