Carlos Urdaneta

I am a film photographer influenced by the portraiture of Diane Arbus, and the fabricated reality of cinema. The idea for my work originates in the hours I spent in front of a TV as a child, yearning for the glory I saw on the screen to seep into the quiet room I sat in, filling it with light and sound. These portraits hold space for the person watching. The TV is only a tool to capture subject’s attention; fixated on the screen, unaware they are the main character being watched.
