Culture and Identity in Visual Arts
Culture and Identity in Visual Arts The Betsy's Escribe Aquí Program, funded by The Knight Foundation, has partnered with Warehouse 4726, Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator, and the Bird Road Art District to host a panel discussion on the visual representation of culture, identity and sense of place. Participating artists Alette Simmons-Jimenez, Abdon J. Romero, and Ignacio Font will present their work, and discuss if/how cultural identity manifests itself in the work. We will explore the concept of cultural identity and look at who the participating artists look to for inspiration and direction in figuring out their own identity and place in the world. Panel moderated by Rosie Gordon Wallace, Executive Director and Founder of Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator. The event includes an exhibit of works and a light reception.
