19 celebrates the Centennial of the 19th Amendment for International Women’s Month - 100 years of voting rights for women in the US! The 19th Amendment helped millions of women move closer to home equality in all aspects of American life. Voting ensures women’s reproductive and economic progress. Women advocated for job opportunities, fairer wages, education, sex education, and birth control. 100 years later, we’re still fighting!

A Woman To Know: Julia Carpenter is a writer for the Wall Street Journal who does a daily newsletter about important women in history that not too many people know of. We'll be printing a poster and postcards featuring women from history that have influenced politics, social justice, and women's roles in the world (that you've probably never heard of!) URBAN THREADS / PLY-Miami
PLY-Miami is a member-supported fiber arts guild open to anyone who uses cloth, yarn, threads, and fibers for artistic and creative expression. We are currently engaged in a monumental, community art installation, Urban Threads, hand crocheted, honoring the legacy of Julia Tuttle, Miami's Mother. She is the only woman in the US who has ever founded a city. 2021 will mark the 125th anniversary of the City of Miami. What better way to celebrate than with a spectacular mural of Julia Tuttle's likeness, created entirely by Miami residents! Urban Threads is a project of cross cultural connectivity. We are inviting residents from all sectors of our community to participate in this extraordinary project. Working together for a shared endeavor we know we are all very similar and so we strengthen our community. Each participant will be given yarn and instructions to crochet a portion of the mural. When all the pieces are complete we will have an assembly party. Installation of Urban Threads will coincide with city-wide celebrations in 2021 at a Miami location to be announced.
