Every Monday, step into our welcoming environment at InterContinental Miami and be inspired by our resident artist creating, now hosted in the Gallery Lounge. Tap into your creative flow with postcard collage materials to engage in a little Creative Play.

And when hunger strikes, indulge in delicious light bites from Toro Toro to keep you fueled throughout the evening. Monday nights mean more at the InterContinental Miami with Noche de Arte.

Hosted every Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM, Noche de Arte is a weekly arts activation and exhibition that breaks down barriers between artist and viewer.

Join us for an evening of art activation in the Gallery Lounge of InterContinental Miami Hotel, featuring a local Miami artist creating their latest work. Each month, a new artist is showcased, offering visitors an expansive introduction to our vibrant city's diverse array of artistry.

Noche de Arte is open to the public and free to attend. collaboARTive presents this program in partnership with InterContinental Miami Hotel, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Miami Downtown Development Authority, and with support from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.

OCTOBER 2024 ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: Mirta Gómez del Valle

Mirta Gómez was born in Havana, Cuba. She is the recipient of numerous artist fellowships including the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation; Oscar B. Cintas Foundation; South Florida Cultural Consortium; National Endowment for the Arts;Florida Arts Council and New York State Council for the Arts.  Her photographs were exhibited in the groundbreaking Inaugural Exhibition 2004 marking the reopening of The Museum of Modern Art in New York City and exhibited again at MoMA’s Landscape: Recent Acquisitions in 2006.  Her work is widely exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, NY; Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA; New Orleans Museum of Art, LA and others. 

Mirta Gómez del Valle is Emeritus Professor of Art/Photography at Florida International University in Miami where she taught from 1983 until her retirement in 2019.  She holds an Associate in Arts Degree from Miami Dade College, Miami, FL; Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University, Miami, FL and Master of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College, NY. She has co-authored seven books, including From the Ground Up (2003); Four Sections of Time (2004); Fried Waters (2005); Between Runs (2006); Witness Number Four (2008); En Vista (2009) and On View (2012) published by The Nazraeli Press.

Mirta Gómez worked collaboratively with her husband for more than forty years. The couple received international acclaim for their photographs of subjects in a state of flux. Since their divorce in 2016 each party is pursuing a solo and separate career in the arts. She continues to photograph subjects in a state of transformation.

Behold Melisa Caprio, an enchantress of many talents - an author, a photographer, a radio host, and most notably, the conjurer of Postcards to the Universe, a mystical movement of manifestation that spans the globe. Through the art of photography, she channels the universe's energies, infusing personal desires and wishes onto postcards, which she then sends out into the cosmos. Her sorcery extends even further, as she shares her knowledge through workshops on the magic of photography, art, transformation, and manifestation. Drawing from the stars, she guides her clients in crafting unique postcards, empowering their creative intention. Her bewitching voice echoes through the realms, as she hosts her weekly show, Postcards to the Universe with Melisa - a spellbinding journey that delves into the mystical realms of spiritual trailblazers. Her incantations have become a popular podcast, weaving together tales of inspiration and transformation.

Through October - One-on-one Portfolio Reviews with Mirta Gómez del Valle

This October, we are honored to welcome Mirta Gómez del Valle, a luminary in the field of photography. With an illustrious career that includes prestigious fellowships from the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and many others, Ms. Gómez del Valle’s work has been showcased at major institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Her influence in contemporary photography and her role as an Emeritus Professor of Art/Photography at Florida International University underscore the exceptional nature of this residency.

As part of her residency, Ms. Gómez del Valle has graciously offered to conduct portfolio reviews for early to mid-career photographers and artists. These one-on-one sessions will provide a unique opportunity for constructive, personalized feedback from a leading figure in the art world. Each review will last 45 minutes and will take place at the Gallery Lounge during October 2024.
