About the Artist
Perla Sofia Gonzalez Marinel.lo, a native of Havana, Cuba, harbored a deep love of art from a young age. Her formative years were characterized by an unwavering commitment to self-expression through drawing and writing, igniting her eventual dual careers as both an architect and artist.
As an urban planner, Perla has amassed an impressive professional portfolio with experience spanning Cuba, Spain, and Miami. Her commitment to the academic community is also notable, having taught courses in design and urban planning at prestigious institutions including the Havana School of Architecture, Gran Canaria International Master Program, and Positivo University in Curitiba, Brazil.
After retiring from the City of Miami Planning Department, Perla devoted herself fully to her passion for art. Initially producing pieces primarily with pen and ink, her works were imbued with the precision and elegance of architectural design. Over time, however, Perla's artistic sensibilities expanded, exploring new themes and techniques, culminating in the vibrant use of color in her more recent work.
Perla's membership in elite artistic organizations, such as the Miami Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, and Gold Coast Watercolor Society, speaks to the quality of her art. Her work has been exhibited in numerous juried shows, garnering multiple awards and recognition for its exceptional creativity and technical skill.
A multi-talented artist, Perla also excels as a writer and photographer. Her newly published book, El Enigma Cotidiano, represents the synthesis of her passion for poetry and painting, a testament to her unwavering dedication to artistic expression in its many forms.
