Harpo Foundation Grants for Visual Artists
The Chicago-based Harpo Foundation was established in 2006 to support emerging visual artists, stimulate creative inquiry, and encourage new modes of thinking about art. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will provide direct support to underrecognized visual artists age 21 or older. Applications are evaluated on the basis of the quality of the artist’s work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and its relationship to the foundation’s priority to provide support to visual artists who are under-recognized by the field.
There is a $15 application fee, but a free waiver may be requested.
To be eligible, applicants must be a U.S. citizen. Students who are enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program are not eligible. See the Harpo Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
