As artists, we know how to make the work, but talking about it in a meaningful way can be really difficult. We know our work has value, but how do we articulate that?
When someone asks the question, how do you respond?
Laundromat Art Space and Warehouse 4726 host an ONLINE conversational workshop for artists to practice talking about the work - otherwise known as the “elevator pitch.”
Join a group of your peers for an informal afternoon that strives to help fellow artists craft a narrative about our careers and develop a comfort level when speaking about our work - to curators, gallerists, collectors, and the media. This is a "practice makes perfect" kind of thing; the more you practice, the better you'll be!
Special guest Kathryn Mikesell of Fountainhead Residency will share her insights on how artists can connect with collectors, curators, and gallery owners.
Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
HOSTED ON ZOOM
Facilitating artists: Jean Blackwell Font, Ignacio Font, and Ron Sanchez
Special guest: Kathryn Mikesell, Fountainhead Residency
Laundromat Art Space is an artist-run residency program, artist collective and exhibition space which focuses on the development of local artists and provides innovative curatorial opportunities and artistic programming for the community. Founded in 2015 by alumni from the ArtCenter/South Florida (now Oolite Arts), Bakehouse Art Complex and Wynwood Arts District LAS makes it's home in a reclaimed laundromat located in the neighborhood of Little Haiti in Miami, FL. The 4,500 sq ft space houses 10 artist studios and a gallery. LAS holds contemporary art exhibitions showcasing local and national work. Resident artists have the unique opportunity to be part of an environment which fosters collaboration between multidisciplinary creatives.
